People of all ages understand the ways in which our daily routines, which affect how we think, feel and perceive the world around us. We also know that dance is a way of helping people to connect with and to express themselves in both positive and negative situations through dance and music.
Our understanding of dance has evolved greatly, leading to a wide range of dance forms from traditional to contemporary. There is also a great deal of research about the benefits of dance for mental health, particularly when it concerns music.
How is dance different from health conditions?
Dance and music both benefit mental health because they both involve both feelings and behaviours. However, dance does have more impact on mental health because it’s an activity that is so much fun and social to do every day. Dance helps people to feel confident and able to express themselves in the way that they are happiest, healthiest and most productive.
There are two main benefits from dance. Firstly, dancing makes us feel happy and gives us a lot of energy and joy. This is especially important for those with anxiety or depression. For example, dancing can help relieve the tension and depression that often come with people with anxiety disorders, especially if dance is part of their everyday lives. Dancers can also help people feel more confident in public, as many dance poses allow you to express yourself without feeling embarrassed.
In addition, dance offers people a way of relaxing, which can be beneficial for anxiety and depression. One study found that people with anxiety could be as much as 50 per cent less likely to engage in physical activity if they were dancing in the same environment as someone with depression.
The second benefit of dance is that it encourages people to make new friends. You can dance to feel part of the crowd and connect with people who you want to spend more time with, regardless of differences in personality.
How can I start dancing?
There are many types of dance. There are classes or classes called lessons. There are dance classes offered at different areas of the city, including the city’s various parks, hospitals and schools. If you can’t make it to a designated dance class or don’t feel confident enough to do so, you are welcome to try a sport.
Sport is best when you choose a sport that you can easily do when you want to take off your shoes and put on a jacket. Sport is also ideal for a child who can play on their own but needs extra encouragement. Some good places to try sport for children
