What is pole exercise?

It does not mean that one should stop a workout and rest, for instance. Pole exercise is also called “lateral movement”, because it uses the same muscles as a side turn. Instead, it involves moving in the opposite direction to the main activity, which is to turn in the air while sitting. It is similar to jumping up and turning in the air. There are different types of pole exercises, but in general they all involve the same muscles.

Pole exercise was first called “slamming” because in the days when an ancient Greek scientist named Pythagoras used the concept to solve the problem of balancing a rock, he would hold a pole vertically and make an abrupt turn to the side. It was later named “piercing” after the method used to carve a diamond with an acorn. Both the name and the concept seem to be ancient.

For the most part, it is just a workout that you can do at home. Although “pole exercise” doesn’t mean “never workout,” there are times to do so and you shouldn’t worry too much about it. However, if you do decide to exercise, be sure to do no more than a few minutes per week. Remember, it is dangerous at any time of the day. It can cause dizziness, headaches and chest pains and it can interfere with your sleep patterns if you exercise when you are tired. However, if you are working out regularly, such as during school or on the job, and plan on doing this as part of your regular workout, that is another story.
