Not a lot, I guess. It’s a small niche, but if it works for you then it does.
What are your favourite dance moves?
Ting, I just do it, it’s awesome. I’m a dancer, not a wrestler.
How did you get started dancing?
I started in my bedroom in 1999. I was 15 with a bit of a shyness about it. I didn’t know anybody! I had a big, black eye so I started at the foot of my bed and that’s how I became involved in other areas like pole dancing, dance school, kung fu, Tai Chi. I’ve been in the Tai Chi community of Vancouver for quite some time. That’s where I started out.
Do you have any stories of your own?
If I could, absolutely, I do. I used to always say to everybody in the Tai Chi room, “Let’s make something happen!” I used to walk into clubs and dance to the music being played and people being happy and smiling, but I always had this feeling I don’t know any other kind of movement. I didn’t even know what to do in the first place at all! Then I would just get into it.
I also had quite a few close friends, so I could be in the street or under the trees and people would be happy, too. That’s when I’d pick up all the music and dance.
Is pole dancing your favourite activity, or what?
It’s all equally good! I’m a dancer and dancer all day, every day.
Did you dance at any other points in your life?
It’s quite rare that I go dancing for an extended period.
Have you ever been in a group?
No, not yet.
At the age of 18, are you still a single teenager?
Nope, I’m happily married.
Did you ever dream about getting married?
Never! If I got married it would be in the past and I wouldn’t want to do that now at 26. I have two boys, they are older than I am but are just starting their lives too. I don’t want to be stuck in this situation for the rest of my life! They are like 13 or 12!
Do we know how you spend your time?
